Overlooking is a multi-faceted process, reflecting different power relations, political economies, knowledge networks and resource allocations unique to each individual city. Processes of overlooking therefore strike at the very heart of what we understand to be “the urban” throughout many parts of the world.
We invite urban scholars to join us in different activities of our collective to broaden the scope of this project and to deepen our understanding of the urban from the perspective of overlooked cities.
Call for abstracts
Yimin Zhao and Julia Wesely are looking forward to host a session at the EUGEO 2025 - the Congress of the Association of Geographic Societies in Europe, which will take place in Vienna, 8.-11.September 2025. Submit your abstract to "204. Looking at the overlooked urbanities: People, practices, and left-behind cities". The deadline is 20th January 2025.
Call for applications
The new call for proposals to the USF Seminar Series is open. "The linked ojectives of this award are to use event programming to stimulate collaboration and learning, build new scholarly networks, and generate and disseminate impactful publications and outputs." You can find more information here.
